My life has been exciting thus far. It doesn't seem to slow down at all, it has just reached a new peak with fresh happening.
Work -
I seriously aren't going to complain much here. In fact, Working has been a pleasure experience for me. I am on contract with WN as Tech Support Engineer. I gave my 120% efforts for this job because of the environment, PEOPLE. Communicate is the key! Instruct them nicely and they would follow, be aggressive and be back fired.. I know it could be a boring job because you might encounter similar incidents and had to provide the same solution over and over again.
Nevertheless, i have manage to picked up vital communication skills and did a mini experiment on how people would react differently. lol, it doesn't take a kid to tell you the answer but its really could kill time in office.
My workdesk is spacious and i get to move around. Ideally, i seldom receive instruction or assigned tasks to do because its usually request from users we have to fulfill. I guess i am enjoying the fruits now till Mid December when i will prepare myself for NS enlistment.
What Fruits??
Dont expect any office to thrive without politics, it happens and a fact of life. When i first joined, my senior helpdesk are already outnumbered and on ORD mood. Eventually i was assigned to join helpdesk to support the daily operations.
Honestly, i was speechless. You have assigned a KID who has NO knowledge about the company's processes and weak Technical skills due to new environment. Chris, my employer who brought me in had since left. I am grateful he didn't just left me behind, the least he did was equipped me with SOME knowledge. By then, i have understand my buddy better, he was doing the same duty as me but was enduring with me.
First month handling of helpdesk between the two of us were hectic. I was practically doing resource pooling by seeking technical assistance and clarifying processes with staffs siting outside of Call Center. People would usually say "Dunno anything MUST ASK, ASK till you understand" - i think its bullshit (You really have to endure the fact that many will start to complain because i am taking up their time as well) but with no alternative than asking because it is the fastest way to resolve user's problem and move on with operation. Eventually(Phew!) i manage to build rapport with them and things begins to turn out better.
After one month of absorbing books, reading solutions, seeking assistance. Situation finally improved and till date, I really have learnt a lot and am comfortable of supporting users with ease.
-Network Level 1 Support -Enduser level 2 Support Onsite user support. Standby duty on weekends
within the short 6 months =)
Counting down now.. to my NS. I believe fate has been kind to me.
Thanks the company for the enriching experience you have gave me. People who devoted their time to guide me and my helpdesk partners who always crack jokes with me ;)
